Camp Promise is a free grief support camp that helps children ages 6-11 who have experienced a significant loss, such as that of a parent, grandparent, or sibling. Creative stations will be set up to allow the children to express their grief reactions through play. The death of a loved one can be an overwhelming event for anyone. Children will learn to manage and understand their significant loss through creative activities such as journaling, sandtray therapy, music, drama, and art therapy.
In order to provide the best educational and supportive experience possible for the kids who attend, we are raising funds that will be used to hire professional facilitators who will support the children as they go through the creative stations, supplies for each activity, and a giant tent to house the event. Our goal is not only for the kids to experience the immediate benefits of the day camp, but also for them to be able to use the activities learned to move through their on-going grief experience in the future. Any contributions beyond what's needed for camp will go toward our grief groups for kids throughout the year.
Camp Promise gives children an opportunity to interact with others their age that are experiencing loss and to learn that they are not alone. Your contribution can help them to learn the skills to thrive through difficult times and provide our youth a safe place to grieve.
